Google TV's New Live TV Experience: Over 800 Free Channels and Organized Genres

Google TV Brings 800+ Free Streaming Channels

Google just announced the launch of a new "Live TV experience" on Google TV, its content aggregation streaming platform for the Android TV operating system. This new experience features over 800 free channels from various content providers, including Fox-owned Tubi, Haystack News, Pluto TV, and news channels from major networks such as NBC, ABC, CBS, and Fox. To organize the large number of channels and genres, Google TV's "Live" tab divides channels by category and utilizes voice-based search and navigation to make the process easier for users.

Google TV's FAST lineup includes content in ten languages, including Spanish, Hindi, and Japanese, and can also integrate pay-TV services such as YouTube TV and Sling TV or over-the-air channels with the help of a digital antenna.

With this move, Google TV is directly competing with other fast-growing and expanding free, ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) platforms such as The Roku Channel, Amazon's Freevee, TiVo's TiVo+, Xumo's Xumo Play FAST, and Sling TV's Freestream.
This live TV offering will be available on all Google TV devices in the US, including Chromecast with Google TV and TVs with Google TV built-in from Sony, TCL, Hisense, and Philips. Google plans to extend this new TV guide and channel lineup to eligible Android TV devices later this year.
