Cord Cutting Does Not Mean Cable TV Streaming

Cord Cutting Does Not Mean Cord Streaming

If All You Want to Do is Replace Your Expensive Cable TV Plan With the Same Cable TV Cordless Streaming Plan You Are Doing It Wrong

Cord-Cutting

We hear the same thing over and over from some bloggers warning us that cord cutting will not save us any money. They then go on to tell us that cord cutting replaced by cord streaming and subscribing to a wide array of services will even cost more.

But this premise is flawed and here is why.

Cord Cutting Does Not Mean Cable Replacement By Cable Streaming No Matter How Much Cable TV Providers Would Like You To Think So

We know changing a long term habit is hard. Cable TV is all some subscribers have known their entire lives.

That's because the cable TV industry has had an iron grip on our television entertainment for way too many years. But if you can bring yourself to change the way you watch TV the savings are incredible.

In a recent report by arstechnica and Consumer Reports it cost the average cable TV subscriber $156.71 a month. Not including hidden fees cable companies love to tack on.

Cable TV companies responded to the growing threat of cord cutting by offering streaming packages of the same live cable TV channels at a slightly cheaper price. But prices on these plans also have been creeping up and at some point may become almost expensive as corded TV plans.

Changing Your Viewing Habits Can Dramatically Slash The Price

If you can exchange the live TV channels that you mostly watch on cable TV with on-demand streaming and Free TV from an antenna your monthly savings will skyrocket.

A basic Netflix Streaming Plan costs only $8.99 their HD Plan is $12.99. Combine this with an over the air TV antenna which gives you access to most of your local channels like CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX, PBS and the CW. And you have just slashed your TV watching bill big time.

What if You Still Want Some Of The Channels Only Available on Cable TV?

Sports channels is what can make the cost of streaming TV and cable TV go up significantly. While some events can be watched on an antenna. Expensive sports packages using a cable provider are still very common. And some sports channels can only be found from cable TV providers.

Lifestyle channels can be watched for a lot less from Philo. For only $20/month Philo give you access to History, ID, Hallmark and many more. Their full list of channels can be found here.

Pluto TV, STIRR and XUMO can also help to fill in some extra gaps with free ad-supported on demand and live TV content.

The next time someone tells you that you won't save any money by cutting the cord, one has to wonder if they either work for the cable TV industry. Or they are just plain doing it wrong. Cord cutting is about compromise and making the right choices which can save you a bundle.
