NextGen TV Will Dramatically Change The Way You Watch FREE TV From An Antenna

NextGen TV Will Dramatically Change The Way You Watch FREE TV From An Antenna

The Good News Is Your Current Antenna Will Support NextGen TV

NextGen TV ATSC 3.0

What is NextGen TV?

If you currently receive Free local TV stations over an antenna, it will be fully capable of receiving NextGen TV channels. This is the consumer friendly term that NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) decided upon to call the new ATSC 3.0 TV standard.

It's a new interactive way of receiving broadcast television channels straight from an antenna to your TV. Now for some bad news, current televisions will not support this new standard, so unless you upgrade your television, you will need to get an external tuner dongle to receive it. And these should be available everywhere and will be quite affordable.

But if you are in the market for a new TV set, Sony, Samsung and LG all announced new 4K and 8K models with NextGen tuners already included that will support the new OTT broadcast standard.

This new standard in broadcast television will also provide a much better digital signal. Which will penetrate deeper into your home for a clearer picture on weaker stations. This new OTA technology will also provide interactive programming available though Wi-Fi on a wide range of mobile devices.

One other important feature of this new broadcast standard is it will have the ability to send out emergency broadcasts to warn the public of natural and man-made disasters.

Where Will ATSC 3.0 Be Available?

Plans are in the works for this to roll out to 60+ markets in the U.S.A and it will soon be available to more than 70 percent of TV viewers. And besides offering a better picture that will be available in 4K and beyond, NextGen TV will also offer much clearer sound and voice boost.

According to Madeleine Noland, president of ATSC, broadcasters are jumping aboard this new ATSC 3.0 Standard at an unprecedented pace.

How Much Will It Cost?

Since over the air broadcasters are mandated by the FCC to provide free over the air broadcasts unlike cable TV operators. Which have been allowed to scramble their network local channels.

If you already own an Antenna, like the popular Antop BigBoy, Antennas Direct Max or any other brand. You still will be able to continue to watch the new improved over the air ATSC 3.0 standard TV channels for free.

Is an Antenna in Your Future

If you still have not yet tried to use an antenna to receive free over the air TV, you are missing out on a great source of content. Currently channels like NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, The CW, and PBS all broadcast their programming on their local affiliate stations.

And if you had cable TV for any length of time, you probably already know some of the best content available today is still found on these channels. Plus with an over the air antenna, you have full access to local news, sports and weather information.

Like with anything new, some may be fearful of this change to come. But NextGen TV compared to our current over the air TV signal. Is like comparing our high speed broadband Internet we now take for granted. To the painfully slow 56K dial-up Internet we had years ago.
