New Super Octa Core Android TV Boxes

New Super Octa Core Android TV Boxes

Powerful 8 Core Processors with more RAM and ROM, make these the best Android TV boxes ever.

2015 will be a great year for Android TV fans as new more powerful boxes start to appear. While Quad Core boxes were all the rage last year, new Octa Core CPUs will be this years favorites. Along with double the RAM and ROM, these new Android TV boxes will run XBMC/Kodi and your favorite Android TV apps smoother than ever.

Tronsmart Draco AW80 Octa Core Android TV Streamer

One of the first new super Octa Core Android TV boxes to appear was the Tronsmart Draco AW80. While 2GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM was pretty much the max memory available last year. The new Draco AW80 doubled this.

While most tablets had 4GB RAM and 32GB ROM available for a while now. For some reason Android TV Box manufactures thought it not necessary for their TV boxes. Now that Tronsmart has raised the bar by providing double the onboard memory, expect to see a flood of new boxes from other vendors with the same specs soon.

Allwinner A80 Octa-core CPU

With double the cores of current quad core streamers, the A80 Octa-core CPU will provide smoother file playback.

Aluminum Case - Better Cooling!

It's nice to see Tronsmart did not scrimp on the case. Instead of plastic so many other manufacturers are using, the new AW80 Octa Core is housed in a nice aluminum case. Aluminum has much better cooling characteristics than plastic so it should help prevent the higher speed electrical components from overheating when ripping through your favorite 4K movies which could cause performance issues.

KitKat 4.4 Android OS Plus Linux

While the Tronsmart comes with Android 4.4 KitKat, soon you will also be able to add Linux on it as well. This will give Linux fans a low cost powerful streaming TV box to enjoy their favorite OS.

4K/2K UHD Support with H.265 Decoding

If you have a larger 4K UHD TV, the Tronsmart Draco AW80 supports 4K clear streaming at higher resolutions. It also uses high efficiency H.265 HEVC Decoding. This gives you the same high quality picture at half the bandwidth speed. This is a big plus for those limited to slower 1 to 2 Mbs internet connections.

Still No Decent Remote Control.

While this is really not the fault of the Android TV box. It is rather a limitation of the Android OS which was designed for phones and tablets. Although this is an easy fix by simply using a Bluetooth mouse or a keyboard touchpad combo like the highly rated FAVI wireless SmartStick.
