Watch Aid TV App Tracks Shows on Apple TV
Super Useful App for Apple TV Owners
Watch Aid TV is an app that currently only works for the U.S. market. It tracks shows you watch and when an episode is selected, it automatically redirects you to streaming apps like Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Showtime, and others where you can watch the shows. This app then keeps track of the shows you watch remembers which episde you're on, and will even alert you when a new episode is available.
The Watch Aid App is Only Available on Apple TV and iOS
While this app works great for tracking shows across all popular streaming services including YouTube. It's currently only available in the U.S. and requires both the iOS app, which is used for changing settings. And also an Apple TV.
How the Watch Aid TV App Works
"WatchAid is THE application missing from your Apple TV. WatchAid will replace your cable DVR (Digital Video Recorder) and link directly to the latest episodes of your favorite shows. WatchAid for Apple TV can work as a stand-alone application, or can be synced with your iPhone and iPad."
Following a show in Watch Aid will alert you when a new episode becomes available. To use it, select a show in Watch Aid, then select the episode to watch. Finally, choose which streaming TV service to watch it on (when there are multiple streaming services that carry the show).
Then the app opens the show, where you can watch it. Once done and you exit the app, it will take you back to Watch Aid and mark the show as "watched".
Unfortunately, it does not communicate with the individual service you watched it on, because they want to track what you watch inside their own apps so they can show commercials.
This means if you use Watch Aid, you need to use it because the episode will not be marked watched as if you had opened it inside Netflix and watched it from their app directly.
But this app does an incredible job of tracking all your watched episodes across many different streaming platforms. But it really is one of the most useful apps on the Apple TV. Especially if you subscribe to multiple streaming services at once.
If a show is not found 0n Watch Aid contact them directly @ support@watchaid.tv and they oftentimes will even add it to the app. This app also works great with Plex.

To use the Watch Aid app on your Apple TV, you must also download the companion iOS phone or tablet app. The iOS app is needed to change app settings. You also need to download the app on your Apple TV.
