Charter Spectrum Lost 12K TV Subscribers Last Quarter
Things keep getting worse for big cable
For those who thought the worse for cord cutting was over, sorry to disappoint. The last quarter numbers were in and the results for Charter Spectrum is disappointing. With another 12,000 customers dumping their expensive cable TV subscriptions in favor of cheaper on demand and live streaming services.
That is not the only bad news for Charter Spectrum. Their broadband sign-ups were slowing down as well. New customers signing up for broadband was really the only saving grace for large cable TV providers. Consumers now have more choices for broadband, like Elon Musk's Starlink, and 5G Unlimited cellular plans. This will further cut into cable TV broadband profits.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Charter lost 133,000 residential pay TV subs last quarter. But when you compare it the same time last year when they lost 77,000 subscribers. The cord cutting trend is still going strong and is not showing any signs of slowing.
3 Reasons Why Cable TV Subscribers are Leaving
1. Live Cable TV is Way Too Expensive - With inflation making a serious dent in many household budgets these days. It makes even more sense to save money where you can. And with the cost of Live TV creeping ever higher, cutting the cord is a great money saver. The money saved on can go for more important items like food, clothes, and other household expenses.
An antenna is an entirely free way to watch the major network channels like CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, PBS and more in full 1080p HD. Anyone that has subscribed to cable, can tell you these free over the air TV channels contain some of the best content available on Live TV.
There are also some great Free ad-supported streaming channels available. Here are the top 3 free streaming services many ex cable subscribers are tuning into instead of pricy live TV channels.
2. Too Many Commercials - is another complaint with Live TV. It's ridiculous to pay $150 month for a cable subscription and then be forced to watch endless commercials. It seems as the price creeps up on cable TV; the time spent watching commercials is going up as well. The tolerance level for higher prices and countless commercials is no longer there. Especially since the cable TV industry no longer has a tight hold over their monopoly. Streaming TV put an end to that.
3. Lack of Interesting Content - is another reason many are scrambling to alternative sources. With some great commercial free on-demand streaming channels like Hulu, Netflix and HBO Max available. Many cord cutters have found a significant source of television entertainment with almost endless content at their fingertips.
Cable TV has had its time in the spotlight, but that time is now passed. Still tied to the cable TV cord? Why not join the cord cutting revolution and take control of your television entertainment.
Binge watch endless TV shows and moves commercial free on your timeline, by cutting the cord. And all the money you save every month, a bonus.
