No Android 10 Update for the SHIELD TV from Nvidia

With Android 10 Released in October of 2019 Many SHIELD TV Owners Were Wondering If Their SHIELD will receive this Update

Now we have news from an official Nvidia staff member via a Tweet on Twitter, which confirmed what many have long suspected. The Nvidia SHIELD will not be receiving the Android 10 update. As mentioned in a Nvidia forum post a while back.
Nvidia SHIELD no Android 10 Update

"SHIELD development is still full steam ahead. We just had a release not too long ago. Android 10 was a no-op for android TV so we skipped it as the effort was large and there was essential no impact to end users other than the version string changing. Beyond that, we don't talk about our Roadmap ahead of time anymore, but i can tell you there is still a lot of development going into SHIELD."

Since this really offers no additional benefit to SHIELD owners other than a version number change for the OS, they will lose nothing to not receiving this update. It's good to see that Nvidia is still spending considerable effort with development on the SHIELD platform.

When you think about it, the Nvidia SHIELD has already set all kinds of records as the most updated Android box ever built. They are still providing software updates to hardware originally released in May 2015. And this in the Android market is pretty much unheard of anywhere else.

Most other cheap Android boxes will be lucky to receive any kind of software updates a year later. It's because the makers of these boxes would much rather you update at considerable expense they release no models with slightly faster chipset every 6-months. And selling new hardware is far more profitable to them than taking time and resources to support six-year-old technology.

With the SHIELD, Nvidia took an entirely unique approach. They released their first SHIELD model with a processor that was so many generations ahead of competitors, they still have not yet caught up.

So if you wanting an extremely nice piece of streaming TV hardware, consider a Nvidia SHIELD. Not only will they will support it with software updates long after many of the less expensive Android boxes are serving as door stops. It is also one of the nicest media streamer currently available.
