Here's How to Replace the Batteries on the New Apple TV Remote Control

Replace New Apple TV Remote Battery

Better hope Apple brings out a newer Must Have Apple TV before it's time to replace the remote

The new Apple TV remote is very nice and an immense improvement from the prior model. But you better hope they offer a newer model you just can't refuse before it's time to replace the remote control battery.

The good news is the battery looks like it should last a long time. So when the time comes to replace the battery, Apple may have already released several faster models. Other than that did we mention the new remote is very nice. And if you had the prior model, you'll notice the difference immediately.

Apple has been making their stuff harder to tear into lately. That's why now when you spec out an Apple notebook, phone or PC, it's best to spend the extra money upfront for upgrades. Replacing or adding memory chips or larger hard drives is not for the faint of heart or not even an option any longer.

It will require specialized tools you must buy and you'll need to deal with tiny cramped parts, and super tight tolerances. And you have to deal with that darn nagging little voice in the back of your head telling you. "I hope you don't brick this expensive Apple device."

At first glance, looking at the new Apple TV remote there are two tiny Pentalobe screws at the bottom. So it looks like it should be fairly easy to remove the plate and swap out the battery. Sadly, looks can deceive, and it will not be that easy.

Rather than go into a long boring explanation, it's faster to just have you watch the video below which tears down the new Apple TV remote and shows you how to get to the battery.

After watching the video you may think your Apple TV is much like an electric vehicle. You're going to want to upgrade it long before those expensive batteries need to be replaced.

The good news the remote battery has a pretty long life span, so unless you drop your remote and something lands on it pushing down the buttons, it should last for quite a long time.

If you don't want to tear your remote apart, you can always put it on eBay. And purchase a new remote without upgrading your Apple TV.
