Insignia TV boot directly to another device

Insignia TVs are to Fire TV what TCL TVs are to Roku. It's a television that uses the Fire TV operating system as a smart TV brain.

For many people, who choose this TV simply because it was found at a bargain price at one of Amazon's sales, it does not mean you are stuck booting into the Fire TV Home Screen every time the TV is turned on. Currently BestBuy has a 32" model on sale for $119.

There are some settings you can adjust to boot an Insignia TV automatically each time it's turned on to another media streamer like Roku, Apple TV, Nvidia SHEILD, or even a cable or satellite box installed on another HDMI input instead.

This is actually quite easy to change which we will show you how to make this TV function like most any other smart TV with a choice of options to which input it turns on to.

How to Change The Boot Sequence on An Insignia Fire TV

Before you change your TV settings, make sure the TV has been updated to the latest firmware and the external device you want the Insignia TV to boot to is attached to an HDMI port.

1. Go into your settings menu on your Insignia TV. It can be found on the upper right-hand side of the screen.

2. Then scroll to the Display and Sounds Menu.

3. Choose the Power On the menu. You will see Home enabled. This means when powering up the TV, it starts at the Fire TV home screen. You don't want this setting and will need to scroll down and change it to Last Input. It should show a checkmark if it's selected.

This means the TV will then go directly to the last TV channel or input it was on when you last shut off the Insignia TV.

That's how easy it is to take control of an Insignia TV and watch something other than Amazon's content each time you turn on the TV.
