Charter To Raise Prices Again On Broadband Only Customers

Charter To Raise Prices Again On Broadband Only Customers

Only Broadband and Broadband Streaming Customers to Get Hit With a $5/month Price Increase

Big Cable At it Again Charter Spectrum Sticking a Hefty Price Increase to Cord Cutters

When it comes to big cable, like death and taxes annual price increases are to be expected. Charter is getting ready to slap another $5/month price increase this time specifically targeted at streaming and broadband-only cord-cutters.

Charter TV/Broadband subscribers won't be affected.

Someone has to make up for the loss of the television revenue side of broadband providers and now this is being done by the same company that petitioned the FCC to let them broach the no data cap deal they made in order to merge with Time Warner.

They are using the excuse that they updated to a DOCSIS 3.0 standard in 2018 and now many of their customers are receiving 200 Mbps download speeds.

But here's the thing with Charter. We have noticed this several times through the years, they never once reached out and offered any speed upgrade on the Internet unless you call first and ask for it.

They will happily leave you using a slower service until the software to your modem which needs to be updated is done so on their end.

Even if faster speeds roll out in an area, customers typically need to call in first and request that their account be upgraded for free to the faster speed.

We highly recommend if you are a Charter broadband customer that you call your local Spectrum customer service representatives, and ask if these faster speeds are available before these new increased monthly prices take effect.

Unfortunately, when it comes to high-speed broadband not many options are yet available in many parts of the country. So we continue to be held hostage to broadband providers price increases. Customers can't simply go elsewhere to look for a better deal.

Our only hope is once Space X is able to get their worldwide broadband satellite network up and running, it will offer cord-cutters some form of relief.

For now, our only option is to fork over another extra $60 a year to a broadband provider that's pretty much the only show in town for many of us.

Don't miss our list of 150+ streaming TV sites, popular Roku channels, and more. All accessible from our FREE mkvXstream Streaming TV Remote app for cord-cutters.

Unlike Spectrum, we don't anticipate any price increase on our free app anytime soon.
