NVIDIA Shield Contains Multiple Mediaserver and Kernel Vulnerabilities

DISCOVERED SHIELD VULNERABILITIES IN THE KERNEL AND MEDIASERVER MAY LEAD TO ELEVATION OF PRIVILEGE

Nvidia just released a bulletin outlining newly discovered vulnerabilities in several SHIELD tablets and media streamers across their product line.

These models are all affected:

Shield Tablet
Shield Tablet TK1
Shield TV
Shield Tablet
Shield Tablet K1

Updates have been released that addressed these vulnerabilities with these Android OS updates:

Shield TV ANDROID OTA UPDATE 3.3
Shield Tablet ANDROID OTA UPDATE 4.4
Shield Tablet K1 ANDROID OTA UPDATE 1.5

Please verify that your Nvidia SHIELD devices have these latest updates.

To check your SHIELD Android OS Version Number do this:

Go to

Settings in the upper right-hand corner on your home screen on your Nvidia SHIELD then Navigate Device Preferences — About — Version.
