With the recent demise of both Covenant, and now Exodus two popular Kodi repos shut down by the Anti-Piracy alliance. It has left many Kodi users scrambling looking for viable alternatives.

And while a few Kodi repos still exist, many others have shut down out of fear of being next on the hit list. This has made it harder to find working repos. And even though they may be up and working today. There is no guarantee they will be here tomorrow.

2. Rise of The Android TV Apps

Once upon a time when Kodi ruled the streaming TV world, Android TV apps which offered the same content were few and far between.

Then apps like Showbox and Tea TV and several others arrived upon the scene and began offering the same content as Kodi repos without the complicated setup and extra system resources required to run Kodi.

Installing and even finding ad-free apps was so much easier than dealing with a Kodi install, adding repos, and the constant fiddling when something with a Kodi build got fubared.

3. Lower Cost and Free Legal Alternatives Exist

Once upon a time when Kodi was King of the free streaming TV world. There were not a lot of free TV alternatives. And just like Napster spurred the Music Industry to offer free and low cost music through apps like Pandora, Spotify and Apple Music, forever changing their industry.

The Television and Movie Industry has also had to adapt. With many more streaming TV services available like these 150+ Free streaming TV channels.

Now that we have so many more free and legal ways to watch TV, less Kodi users are going through the trouble to install Kodi.

Kodi May Be Down But It's Still Not Out

The lure of Kodi may not shine as brightly as it once did. But it's still not yet down for the count. Maybe the Kodi developers still have a few tricks up their sleeves. Or other repos may come along and suddenly it could become super popular again.

In the meantime, enjoy Kodi for what it is and also some great Kodi TV alternatives. Because watching streaming TV is better now than it ever was.
