The Purpose Of The Top Ten Free Channels App
This channel doesn't actually contain the actual channels mentioned above. Rather, it's a cool way to access many different channels all from within this channel by providing shortcuts to the real channels on Roku.
If you don't have a channel installed, when you click the channel icon within The Top Ten Free Channels window, it launches a screen on Roku to let you add the channel onto your Roku player.
The channel itself still has some bugs which is why it may still be a private channel. On our particular Roku Ultra, it worked one time by taking us to the Movies Plus TV screen where we could choose to install the channel. Then afterward, any channel we clicked on would only open an icon and then after a few seconds, close and bring us right back to the main list of channels.
It's really an interesting idea for a channel and hopefully, the developer can get it working, it could offer Roku users a quick way to launch their favorite channels. Even better would be letting users choose which Roku channels to be included in their own personal "Top Ten Roku channels List."
This is one place Roku lags behind Apple TV. On the Apple TV platform, users can easily arrange their channels into individual folders. This lets you organize your favorite channels however you wish by category. For example, all live TV channels can go into one folder named Entertainment. Music channels can all go into another channel named Music and so on.
Maybe one day in a future update, Roku users will one day be able to do this with their Roku media streamers on all their channels as well.
