How To User The Roku Private Stream Tester Channel





Now it's easy to enter any Internet URL or local URL to an MP4, MKV, MKS, HLS, MOV or M4V file and play it right on your Roku before you even build or publish a channel.

Simply add the Roku Stream Test Private channel and then visit their Roku Stream/RAF Tester web page. Enter your link to the video you want to test and play on your Roku press the purple "Go" Button and this will begin playing inside the private Stream Tester channel.

2. Visit the Roku Stream Test Web Page. Click Here

3. Enter your Roku IP address, must be on the same local network as your web browser. (This may only work in the USA for now) To find your IP address on your Roku go to Settings/Network either WiFi or Ethernet depending on which you use and your IP address will be shown there.

4. Open the Roku Private Stream Tester Channel on your Roku.

5. Enter the URL of the video you want to test or play into the web browser and press the purple "GO" Button. If you know the format of the video stream you can click the drop down button on the right side and choose mp4, m4v or leave it set to AUTO. If the link you entered to the video is good, it should begin playing on your Roku. Note: If it is a live stream turn the Live Playback button on. Note on M3U streams you will want to select HLS.


This is a good way to test a video file before you add it to your Roku to make sure it is compatible with your channel.

To play an audio file though this channel just click the Video drop down button and choose audio. The format dropdown button on the right will now let you choose from MP3, WMA or MKA.

You can substitute the last part of the search string with other formats that play on Roku
