How to Add Roku Channels by Code
Adding Roku Channels by Code is easy once you know the trick
Roku Private channels and even some public channels have vanity codes
Adding channels by their vanity code can be a little tricky if you are new to Roku. Unlike Roku channels listed in the channel store, private channels that use codes need to be added a different way. These codes can be added two different ways which we will show you here.
Method One - Adding a Private Channel by Typing in the Channel Code
This is probably the easiest way to add a private Roku channel by code. For the instructions we would like to post this excellent video tutorial from CNET. If you would like to practice and add channels with codes, be sure to see this huge list of Roku Channel Codes.
Method Two - Adding Roku Channels by Code From a URL
While this is not the easiest way to add a channel it will prevent typos. It will require some copying and pasting so hopefully you are familiar with how to do that from a computer, tablet or smartphone.
Let's look at an example of a typical private channel from our huge A-Z Roku Channels List which you can view here.
Adding these channels from our list is easy, all you would need to do is click the Add Channel link.
What if you find a private channel code that does not have a link?
Then just copy the code of the Roku channel you want to add, and paste it to the end of this url:
https://owner.roku.com/Add/
Using our example URL above, copy the link and paste it into your address bar in your web browser. Then copy or carefully type the Code: RD7UQE after the Add/ so your finished URL should look like this.
https://owner.roku.com/Add/RD7UQE
Now click enter/return on your keyboard and it will take you to Roku's website. For some reason it does not continue on to the add channel page once logged in.
Now here is the trick, once signed in since it does not yet go to the channel. You will need to go back to your web browser and paste the full URL in a second time and press the enter/return key on your keyboard.
Then you will see the add private Roku channel page that looks like the picture below:
Finally Click the button above and your Private Channel will be added |
Still Not Done Yet, we have one more step before you will be able to find your newly installed Roku channel.Go to Settings/System on your Roku and check for updates. During this process any private or public channels you may have added will then be installed on your Roku.
Now go to the end of your installed channels on your Roku and any new channels will be there. To move them press the * button on your Roku remote. You can move your channels in any order you like.
Now that you know how to add channels by code, here is a huge list of Private Roku Channel Codes to try!
