Comcast and Charter's Joint Xumo Stream Box has Arrived
Unveiling the Comcast and Charter Xumo Stream Box Bringing Us A New Era of Streaming
Comcast and Charter tag teamed the development of a joint streaming TV box to stem the flow of cord-cutters from their services. The streaming TV box was built by Xumo.
The Xumo Stream Box is currently available to Charter Communications' Spectrum subscribers and will soon be available for Comcast's Xfinity customers.
This streaming box will give broadband cable customers access to subscription-based and ad-supported streaming apps which include Apple TV+, Disney+, Hulu, Netflix, and many more!
It's simple to set up and use and they hope it will bring more cord-cutters back to a platform with big cable control, along with advertisements designed to boost shrinking profits.
Charter sees this as a value-added offering for their cable TV subscribers, while Comcast sees it as a perk for their broadband customers.
For Comcast's Xfinity Internet customers, the Xumo Stream Box is a complimentary addition. If you're a new Spectrum Video customer, you'll relish a free Xumo Stream Box for a full year. Afterward, you can snag it for $60, or opt for a modest monthly fee to keep the TV streaming entertainment flowing.
The initial free price for current customers may be attractive, and it will add an additional competitor to others like Roku, Amazon, and Apple which all sell their own hardware available for streaming TV.
Marcien Jenckes, the president of Xumo, believes this service is tailored for those of us overwhelmed by the sheer abundance of choices out there. He envisions simplifying the streaming experience, curating content, and using a blend of technology and human insights to make TV enjoyable and effortless once again.
