Roku is gearing up for an exciting refresh of its home screen, set to arrive with the Roku OS 12 update. This update brings not only a new user interface but also some quality-of-life enhancements, notably the introduction of a 'Continue Watching' row.

Currently, the Roku OS 12 update is undergoing testing among select users. Leaked screenshots reveal that the 'Continue Watching' row will prominently feature content recently viewed across select apps. This feature is commonly found in services like Netflix and Prime Video. Interestingly, Google TV introduced a similar feature to Android TV OS nearly a decade ago.

Roku initially introduced the 'Continue Watching' function in its OS 11.5 update, albeit tucked away under the 'What to Watch' section. The updated home screen simplifies the process of rediscovering recently viewed content without requiring users to navigate to a separate page.


Enhanced Grid Layout for Easy Navigation


The revamped home screen that Roku is introducing boasts a new 4x4 grid layout, expanding upon the existing 3x3 grid. This enhancement allows for the inclusion of more apps on the home screen without the need for excessive scrolling. Positioned just above this new section are custom shortcuts that users can create to personalize their experience.
