Hulu Raises Prices on its Streaming TV Service

Another streaming service raising its price during times of high inflation

Hulu Price 2022

Hulu is now going to get more expensive with its latest price increase. This affects both ad-supported and ad-free Hulu streaming. The Hulu bundle with ESPN price remains unchanged. But this comes after losing NBC content which is like a double slap in the face to Hulu subscribers.

An Ad-Free Hulu Subscription is Now Closing in on the Cost of a Netflix Subscription

Yesterday Hulu raised the price of their ad-free and ad-supported streaming packages. A monthly ad-free Hulu subscription is now going to cost $2 more and is going up from $12.99/month to $14.99/month.

Its ad-supported tier will go up one dollar from $6.99 to $7.99. Netflix is also coming out with a lower-cost ad-supported plan that should be fairly close in price to Hulu.

The Standard HD Netflix plan is now $15.49 and its 4K plan is still much more expensive at $19.99/month.

If You Want a Hulu Deal Wait For Black Friday

In the past, Hulu offered its ad-supported plan for only $1 dollar. While they may never offer it this low again. It may be offered for a considerably lower price than the new normal price. Since Black Friday is not that far off, it may be best to wait to sign-up for Hulu and see what they offer this year.

Streaming providers raising prices just make it easier to cancel subscriptions. So while they may see profits go up in the short term, if enough subscribers cancel, we may see prices start moving in the other direction in the form of more money-saving sales and special promotions.

If you don't like paying $8/month and still watching ads, then give The Roku Channel, Tubi TV, or Pluto TV are worth checking out. They all have ads, but it won't cost you a cent.

And if you hate ads, give this media streamer a try.
