Google TV Android 12 Update is Ready To Roll Out to a Chromecast or Android Google Powered TV Near You
Chromecast with Google TV and Smart TVs running the Google TV OS will Soon Receive this Latest Software Update
Google is launching their latest Android 12 operating system update for Smart TVs and Chromecast models using Google TV. This software update is for the newer Chromecast models that come with actual remote controls. Unlike the older Chromecast models which required using a phone as the remote to control them.
Changes and Improvements With the New Google TV 12 Update
This latest Google TV update added new features and also fixed some bugs to make this Android OS work even better.
Camera and Microphone Blocking - Android 12 was big on privacy improvements and this new Google TV update now gives users the ability to completely block access to both the camera and microphone.
Whenever the microphone or camera is on. a more prominent green indicator dot is placed in the top right corner of the TV screen which makes it much easier to see.
Match Content Frame - This is a brand new feature that attempts to match the frame rate to the content being watched. Several options for this are available. You can choose either Never, or Non-seamless which adds a blank screen at the beginning or end of content playback. But it still will automatically try and set the best framerate for you.
Seamless is the last and possibly the best option that automatically sets the best frame rate to match the app, with your TV.
Wi-Fi Quick Connect - This is a nice feature when traveling and all you have is a cellular Internet connection. It gives the Chromecast or Google TV-powered television access to the Internet through an Android phone which is running on an Android 13 operating system or later.
Added Sound Controls
Google adds support for more user access to sound controls in this version. Surround Sound can now be turned off by selecting a None Option.
Text Scaling - This now lets you pick the best text size for your TV screen. Especially handy for larger displays, adjust the text size and scale to best fit your viewing area from 85% - 115%.
When will Google TV 12 Be Available?
If you have auto-update enabled on your Chromecast or Android television with Google TV, it should receive the update on its own. Otherwise, periodically, do a manual check for updates on your device, this update should be rolling out any time now.
