Amazon Exploring Bundling Streaming TV Services
Another Lower Cost Streaming Bundle May Be Coming Our Way Soon
Amazon is exploring options with content providers to offer a bundled package of streaming TV content at a discount. It's become painfully obvious to many cord-cutters that streaming TV is no longer as affordable as it once was.
With most major television content providers now offering standalone services for their content, it has really driven up the price to stream television. In the beginning, you pretty much only needed a Netflix subscription to watch all the content you needed.
But corporate greed once again stopped what was a pretty nice deal for consumers. With rising prices and less content, a streaming bundle may make sense. But only if it has the content bundled together TV streamers want to watch.
Several Streaming TV Bundles are Already Being Offered
While Amazon is in talks with content distributors is ongoing, cord-cutters can choose from several bundles already offered by several streaming TV services.
DISNEY+ ESPEN HULU BUNDLE - This bundle packages three popular streaming services together at a discounted price of $20/month Ad-Free. With ads, you can purchase this bundle for $14/month.
CBS Paramount+ Showtime Bundle - Currently you can sign-up for this bundle for $11.99/month. This is for the Essential plan, which does not include your local CBS affiliate station. The $14.99*/month Premium plan includes the local CBS affiliate and does not have ads on Showtime or on-demand content. Live TV and certain TV shows will still contain ads.
HBO Warner Brothers Discovery Bundle - This bundle announced by Warner Brothers will combine HBO Max and Discovery+ into a single streaming service. It's still not yet available but will be another great way to watch content from popular streaming services at a discount.
AMC, Shudder, IFC and Sundance Bundle - Another money saving bundle that can be had for $6.99/month. Which is a considerable savings compared to signing up all three individually.
Hulu and HBO Max Bundle - For $14.99/month this bundle combines Hulu with ads along with HBO Max. This is like getting Hulu free. If you only want HBO Max, an even better deal is available with the current promotion which is 40% off the subscription price if you sign-up for a full year. Roku and Apple Have A Huge Opportunity to Take Advantage of Bundling
If Roku offered its Free Roku Channel along with another popular live streaming service like Philo for a discounted price, it could be a game changer.
Apple could do the same with its AppleTV+ and another free content provider like the Roku Channel and make the content all available from a single channel or app. This could also be a popular option to make it easier to find and access the content.
As prices keep climbing, bundling streaming TV services to offer streamers a discount could end up being a winning combination for both consumers and content providers. And it sure beats the other alternative piracy, which always seems to rise its ugly head whenever prices start climbing.
So bring on the money-saving streaming TV bundles! But please don't follow the cable TV model by offering us a hundred channels at an outrageous price with only a handful of channels worth watching.
