Why HBO Max Now Beats Netflix as the Number One Streaming TV Service

While Netflix has been losing content and raising prices, HBO Max is quietly taking over the Number One Streaming Spot

Netflix used to be the go-to service for streaming, but times are changing. HBO Max has been quietly building up its content library and platform to become the best streaming site currently available.

Better Content and a Nicer Layout

Not only does HBO Max now offer more and better quality movies and shows that are on Netflix, but HBO also has a nicer laid-out streaming app that makes finding content much easier.

Your saved shows are always front and center along the top row, and you don't need to go searching frantically for them like you do on Netflix. And while Netflix keeps losing popular content from its streaming service, there is no shortage of great TV series and movies to watch on HBO Max.

HBO Max also Beats Netflix on Price

Another move that has many Netflix customers seeing red and may explain why they lost almost a million subscribers last quarter, is while they are losing content Netflix keeps raising prices.

To watch 4K content on Netflix will cost you $20/month. HBO Max is $15 monthly without ads and you can even get this as low as $12.99 a month without ads if you pay $149.99 for a year in advance. That's a deal compared to paying close to $240 a year for Netflix.

If Netflix wants to stay relevant and quit bleeding customers, a good place to start would be to roll back their 4K plan to $15 a month to match HBO Max. Or they could simply add 4K to their middle tier plan and only allow 2 consecutive streams instead of 4 on their top tier plan.

Along with getting 4K on the $15 HBO Max ad-free plan, HBO also lets you have 3 consecutive streams. Also, HBO Max is not cracking down on password sharing the way Netflix currently is.

This is why HBO Max now seems like a bargain compared to Netflix and this may be where many of the subscribers who canceled their Netflix service last quarter are going to instead.
