A speed boost is on the way for some Comcast broadband customers
Monday, Comcast announced faster upload and download Internet speeds for select plans
Comcast, one of the nation's largest TV Cable and broadband providers, announced it will increase speeds to customers in 14 Northeastern states. These states include Maine through Virginia and the District of Columbia. Any Comcast customers who currently subscribe to a 50Mbps and 100Mbps download speeds will not get any faster downloads. But they will double their upload speeds.
Any broadband subscribers that pay for their 200Mbps, 400Mbps, and 800Mbps plans will get to see a big boost in both upload and download speeds. This matches several other Internet providers who are also raising their speeds. This something that has been ongoing and is becoming wider spread with broadband companies throughout the U.S.A this last year.
As the infrastructure for high speed, Interne keeps being built out. These companies who once enjoyed monopoly status now need to compete. Especially now that Elon Musk's Starlink satellites that can provide broadband all over the world is starting to come online.
