The chip shortage is one of many supply chain issues facing hardware manufacturers. Looking for alternatives to keep their products on store shelves, Nvidia could soon be using Intel factories to build chips for their devices.
"They're interested in us using their foundries," said Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang regarding Intel, during a virtual press conference on Wednesday. "We're very interested in exploring it."

Nvidia Profits Up

Besides the SHIELD TV, Nvidia also builds high-end graphic cards for gaming computers and crypto mining rigs. Their Tegra processor also powers video game machines like Nintendo's Switch.

Nvidia's profits last quarter were off the charts. By adding more supply capacity, it could help them provide even more top-selling products to its customers.

Added Production Could Mean a New SHIELD in 2023

More production could mean a big benefit for SHIELD fans who are anxious for another newer SHIELD TV streaming box. 2022 could be the year we see a next-generation Nvidia SHIELD. Using their latest and fastest Tegra processor along with other hardware improvements.

Intel is buliding several more plants to increase chip manufacturing capabilities both in Ohio, and Germany. This is a good thing since most of the worlds IC chips are now being manufactured in Tiwan. Which could be a big problem if war breaks out there with China.
