Roku Live TV Zone has Launched and It's Outstanding

Now, you can Access All Your Live Channels from a Classy Guide right from the Roku Home Screen!

Roku Live Zone

Today Roku introduced another innovative new feature to its home screen called Live TV Zone. And it will serve as a launching pad to display all live channels on your Roku device.

Not to be left behind Google, which also in 2020 launched a Live tab on their home screen to let you access their live TV channels. Roku now has this feature on their media players and takes it a step further. Their Live Zone will not only feature their own Live content from The Roku Channel, it will also feature content from other providers like Sling, YouTube Live, Hulu and others.
This latest update is available for all Roku users from the sidebar. If your Roku has it, there should now be a Live TV menu. If this is not yet available on your Roku player, you can try to force an update. To do this, just go to these menus: Settings > System and Check for updates.

Once your Roku has finished updating, then return to the sidebar menu and see if Live TV is visible.

Rumor has it this is something Google wanted Roku to do back when they threatened to remove YouTube Live and also the YouTube channel late last year.
Now it will make it much easier for everyone to find Live content, and Roku users will spend more time watching content rather than searching through multiple channels to find the content they love.

Will a Custom User Zone Be Next?

Maybe someday we will see a complete revamp of the way Roku presents their entire channel line-up. Rather than jumping from a channel back to the home screen, and then opening another channel. One thing big cable TV and satellite did well was their user guide interface. It allowed users to add their favorite channels to a custom programming guide, which could then launch channel content directly from the guide. Much like Roku is now doing now with their Live Zone.

If Roku ever redesigned their home screen and could mimic this feature for more channels, it would make streaming content on the platform even easier than it is now. And this could be another innovative, significant change for the company.

Roku Word Wide User Growth Has Slowed

Adding some more cool features would help Roku remain in the lead. Their stock has taken a bit of a hit lately because some industry insiders think they may have saturated the market in the U.S. And their streamer has not taken off as much as they would hope in European markets.

With increased competition, they will need to keep innovating new features to make their streamers better, and keep their customers coming back for more. The Live Zone for live TV channels is a step in the right direction.
