ANDROID TV 11 On The Way for Nvidia SHIELD

Android OS 11 Brings Us Many New Features

Android TV OS 11

They did not apply the last Android TV 10 update to the Nvidia SHIELD. Nvidia purposely did this. Because according to the company, the differences between the ATV 9 and ATV 10 updates were too insignificant to spend any time on. But a company rep said that this decision did not mean the end of software support for the Nvidia SHIELD.

Now that Android TV 11 is about ready to roll out an update for the Nvidia SHIELD may be just a month or two away. One developer recently observed that they listed only earlier 2015 SHIELD models on the Google Play Console as being compatible with the Android TV 11 operating system.

This is more than likely an oversight, because it seems very unlikely that Nvidia would roll out an update for their last SHIELD generation and not their current models. Chances are, like in the past, all SHIELD models, especially their current ones, will receive the latest updates because they share a common SoC. But this remains to be seen, as they have released yet nothing official from the company.

As rumors of Android TV 11 updates dance around in Nvidia SHIELD owners heads, Google is busy working on Android TV 12 already with developers receiving early access to Google's latest Android operating system.

Here's What We Know About Android TV 11

Android TV OS 11 brings us some new brand features. Here are some highlights of the upcoming update. Full list of everything included.

Cast Connect

Cast Connect is a feature that lets you control content that is playing on the TV, from a phone with your remote control. This will also allow developers more options they can integrate into apps as well.

Single Time App Permissions

With this feature, now users can give apps single time permissions. Apps with this enabled which are not used in a while will reset their permissions after some time. Users will also now have full control over their background permissions for apps as well.

Auto Low Latency Mode

This will disable displays that perform this post processing, which offer better graphics. But turning this off gives gamers lower latency, which offers smoother gameplay.

Google Play Instant Apps

This feature is now going to be available on Android TV and it lets users try an app first without fully installing the app. This is especially nice for media streamers using Andorid TV, which rarely have as much storage.

Google Play Makeover

Google also changes to the home screen, that highlights trending content. It also gave Google Play a makeover by giving apps a newer updated look and also making it easier to subscribe.

Google Assistant Onboard

Now when you say "OK Google" or press the voice activated button on your remote, Google's Assistant jumps in and will help find apps and content.
