Factory Reset Your Roku If Another Language Comes Up In the Initial Roku Setup

When starting a Roku for the first time and the language is something other than English, you need to do a factory reset. This is done by holding a small paper clip inserted in the reset hole on your Roku, or if it is a Streaming Stick holding down the button.

You need to make sure your Roku is plugged in and started up then press the reset button for at least 20 seconds. The Roku will then reboot and start up again. Once it boots, it should have defaulted to English.

Change the Language From The Home Screen

If the preferred language is not set when accessing menus from the Roku Home screen, we can easily set this in settings.

To change to another language on your Roku, go to the Home Screen, then Settings/System/Language. From there, you can choose the language you would like displayed when navigating the menus on your Roku.

Roku Language Setting

If you can't understand the language, then the best thing to do is to use Google Translate. It will translate words in Spanish, French, German and others to English. Simply type in the word on one side of the screen set to the language you want to translate from. Set the other side to English. This will then show you how to access the language settings on your Roku.

From there you can choose another language to display.
