These are the Best Streaming Services According to Hollywood Insiders
When Hollywood Insiders and Wall Street execs were asked about which Streaming Service was winning the Streaming War, they spilled the beans.
Vulture.com ran an interesting story asking 12 Hollywood insiders and Wall Street Execs who was really winning the streaming wars. The article is behind a paywall, but the comments were quite interesting. You can subscribe to read more, but here is quick overview.
Best Streaming Services Ranked From Least Formidable to Most Formidable
Peacock wants to run a legitimate streaming platform without putting up the money for engaging content. One insider said they are a bit of a mess. Two big things going for them are WWE and English Premier League.
HULU was a surprise. We thought they would have ranked higher than what they did. Uninteresting, another extension of Disney and nothing to get excited over were terms used to describe Hulu. But even though they are losing NBC content, the Kardashian which left NBC is moving over to Hulu which certainly may create some excitement for this platform.
Apple TV with nearly unlimited cash, they are just a super popular show away from being a major contender. They should have jumped into the streaming game a little earlier and they could have easily edged out Amazon Video. They did a great job on their streaming service. With their large user base, and once more interesting content comes to their platform, they may be in the top three.
Amazon Prime Video According to one insider, they are difficult to deal with and have trouble deciding on content. But once a decision is made, they are all in. Their execs are highly regarded and Amazon has tons of money for buying content. But using their platform and dealing with them can be frustrating. They are trying very hard to become the next Netflix but just can't seem to get it together.
HBO Max is another surprise. For a relativity new player, they ranked pretty high quickly. But they have interesting content that leaves viewers coming back for more. They are chasing volume over quality yet still have some great content which is favored by streamers. So while they may be a little tarnished, their shine is still there and they remain popular.
Disney+ is a big hit, and they quickly grabbed the number two spot. Beating out other streaming providers that have been at this a lot longer. They are big spenders on content and their library is huge. If they keep at it they may eventually beat out the number one player. Different from Netflix, Amazon Apple TV and HBO Max and some others they are following a different path. Instead of releasing all episodes at once to binge on, they are drip feeding them one week at a time like the old cable model. While bingers may hate it, this keeps their members subscribing month after month.
Netflix Still Number One
Netflix is still dominating the streaming TV wars. Being referred to as the Walmart or Kleenex among streamers may not be super sexy. But Netflix still has more subscribers than all the others. They are the big dog in the streaming TV game, and so far no matter how hard the others try, they haven't yet been able to steal Netflix's bone.
