Netflix Just Added a New Shuffle-Play Option

There's a vast library of content still available on Netflix, but finding new content is not always easy. With the new Netflix 'Play Something' Shuffle-Play feature, they hope to make it even easier for their subscribers to binge watch shows and movies.
A paid subscription is only as good if paid subscribers are actively using the service to watch content. An unwatched streaming service is one that subscribers soon grow tired of and will often cancel it in favor of something else.
Netflix knows this, and they actively do everything they can to keep its subscribers engaged and watching their content. They do this in several ways.
1. Netflix Suggestions - This is the algorithm used by Netflix to suggest shows and movies based on what you may have previously watched. It recommends shows directly on their app based on Genre or types of shows that are similar. Therefore, it's important to use Netflix individual profiles and set them even for younger family members. Otherwise, your 'Watch Next' suggestions will be inappropriate for the shows they enjoy. And you also don't want to confuse their AI to suggest a bunch of kids' shows when it could help you find better, age related content.
2. Emails recommending New Content - Another way Netflix keeps their customers apprised of new content is by email. These emails are a great way to find new shows and movies. The emails have links that give you the option to watch now, or add content to your list for later viewing. That's why it's important to use an email account that you regularly check when signing up for your Netflix account.
3. Continue Watching - This is another reminder Netflix sends out to subscribers. When starting a TV series, if you don't finish watching each episode, Netflix will email reminders alerting you that there are more unwatched episodes you may have missed, along with a link to continue watching.
4. Netflix Hidden Codes - These hidden codes let you access every genre in the Netflix library. There are thousands of codes which you can enter to find content. Access Netflix hidden codes and see how to use them.

New - Play Something Shuffle Play
This new additional feature will make finding content on Netflix easier for those in a hurry. Just click a button and it will launch a show or movie based on their algorithm of similar previously watched content.
A 3rd party website Netflix Roulette also has something similar, but it's purely random and it doesn't use the Netflix algorithm so it's not based on your previously watched history.
Play Something is currently only available on Smart TVs, but they will add it on their Android mobile app soon. Currently, there are no plans for adding it to iOS or in Web clients. But if it becomes popular, it may become more widely available in time.
