Amazon Losing Executives at An Alarming Rate

According to Business Insider, they have employed nine top Execs at Amazon for 20+ years

High employee turnover is never a good sign, and at Amazon they have been losing executives at a turnover rate exceeding 10%. According to Business Insider:

"Amazon's most senior execs are leaving in droves, citing stalling growth, higher pay elsewhere, and a tough culture."

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos is stepping down the 3rd quarter of this year. And 45 Senior VPs have left the company since 2020. The new Amazon CEO Andy Jassy will have a big job getting many of these vacant positions filled and everyone back up to speed.

With tougher calls from congress recently to break-up Amazon's monopolistic hold on a large segment of the tech market, Andy's job may become even harder going forward.

What's it really Like to Work At Amazon?

In business since 1994, Amazon is now home to 10000+ Employees and has an annual revenue exceeding $10 billion dollars.

It's not all bad news for Amazon, they recently announced they broke the 200 million mark for subscribers to their Prime Video streaming service. Amazon also ranked #2 on Fortune's 2021 World's most admired companies list.

Reading the reviews at Glassdoor, Amazon's prior CEO had an 82% approval rate.

Employees rate the pay as being good, but they place top focus on speed, which has been the contributing factor to increased on the job injuries at their distribution centers.

Working at Amazon seems better suited for those who can set their own goals and meet them. But one former Amazon executive who left this last year told Insider. “It would not surprise me if 2021 has more VP attrition than 2020.” The risk vs reward is just not there at Amazon and other companies simply pay better.

Industry analysts expect that even with the large number of executives leaving. There will be little overall impact on the company's operation. Globally, Amazon now has more than 185 fulfillment centers and 40+ sortation centers.
