Nvidia SHIELD Update 8.22 is Rolling Out Now

If we told you the Nvidia SHIELD is the best Android box ever made, it would not be a lie. And the new SHIELD Experience 8.2.2 update continues to prove how committed Nivida is to keeping their media streamer up to date.

From the beginning, Nvidia has released a lot more updates for the Android TV platform than any other Android box builder.

Now another Android OS PIE update 8.22 has been released and it is available for download. Here is what the latest software update brings Nvidia SHIELD owners in the way of new features and bug fixes.


New Features

  • Sound Setting added under Advanced Options to turn off Volume Control Notifications
  • Added support for Control4 home automation.
  • Support for Dual Sense Xbox S & X and PlayStation Controllers


Software Bug Fixes



This update fixes some niggly issues which make the SHIELD an even better media player.

Audio Fixes
  • Bugfix for manually setting audio output formats.
  • Audio USB DAC bug fixed. This would show up when manually switching between PCM and Dolby sources.
  • Fixed a problem where the volume would still be controlled after the IR audio volume-controlled was configured.
Display Screen
  • Addressed the issue where the bottom of the screen showed video artifacts during 4K upscaling.
  • The flashing color band that could be seen during videos watched in portrait mode has been resolved.
Network & Storage
  • Manually setting Audio output format that sometimes would not work has been fixed.
  • Fixed the bug when passwords used for sharing over the network would randomly reset after each upgrade.
  • Bugfix addressed some USB drives that would not wake up.
  • Repaired the issue where a user couldn't enter a Wi-Fi password for low powered APs.
Accessories
  • 2017 controller non-charging issue has been fixed.
  • Volume Up/Down not detected on some models have been resolved.
