Amazon Rolls Out a New Revamped Fire TV User Interface With Multi-User Support
New Update For Fire TV Users Rolling Out Now
By next week, Amazon will have finished rolling out its newly redesigned Fire TV user interface to most of its Fire TV devices. The update will only be available on 3rd generation Fire Sticks, and Fire TVs. Fire Cube, and Fire Television owners won't see this new UI update until some time in January 2021.
The new big feature for Fire TV owners along with a nicer, easier to use interface is the new multi-user support. With multi-user support, now Fire TV users can create up to 6 profiles for individual users. Children can also have their own profiles so parents have more and better control over what kids can watch.
Setting up a unique user profile is nice because now their content finding algorithm will make the content it finds and your watchlist more personalized to individual users. Instead of everything jumbled together under a single profile.
New Streamlined User Interface
The past Fire TV interface was considered clunky at best. Now, finding shows and movies is easier than ever. A new ‘Find’ tab makes searching and finding top content across various streaming services easier.Better Integrated Alexa Support
Alexa used to cover the complete screen when activated. Now it shows up as a small bar along the bottom. Voice profiles when activated, lets you use voice commands to go directly to your user-profile, then search for content and begin playing a movie or TV show.
Enhanced Recommendations
Amazon tweaked its recommendations algorithm to help you find content that more closely suits a viewer's profile. Netflix has had this down for a long time now. This is a feature many fire TV users will welcome.
Now when watching TV with your Fire TV, your recommended shows won't be full of kids cartoons, or other content that you personally may have no interest in watching.
New Live Now Tab
The new Live Tab shows live content playing on a Fire TV. But as nice as some of these new improvements are for owners of these devices.
If you want the ultimate UI and the most powerful Android streaming media player on the market, save your nickels for a Nivida SHIELD.
The user interface on a SHIELD is still the nicest and the overall performance of this media streamer will leave a Fire TV in the dust. The biggest downside to an Nvidia SHIELD is it does cost considerably more than a Fire TV Stick. Unless you score a deal on a like-new SHIELD model which do occasionally come up on eBay.
For a simple and cost-effective media streamer, the 4K Fire TV Stick is hard to beat, especially how little they sell for on eBay.
