Because Kodi can run beautifully on a PC, Android and Even Apple TV, why not add it to Roku?

Can You Really Put Kodi On Roku?

Anyone that claims to run Kodi on Roku is not telling you the full story. Because the so called solution we often hear about, is really not the best solution at all.

Many YouTubers, claim to watch Kodi on Roku by mirroring it from another device. They then watch content form Kodi directly on the TV Screen together with a Roku media streamer.

And while this can work. It means you still need to run Kodi on something else. And it would be far simpler to just use a device that can run Kodi directly in the first place.

Here's Why There is No Kodi Channel For Roku

There are several reasons there is not a Kodi app or channel on Roku.

Kodi is a very complex piece of software that is actually quite resource hungry. The Roku hardware is simply not powerful enough to run it smoothly.

Roku also uses a heavily modified Linux operating system that is not compatible with any current version of Kodi.

That's not to say a gifted developer could not try to port something over. But since the OS is so locked down this may be a pipe dream at best.

And while Kodi in itself is a legitimate media streaming app. Often it get's used with add-ons or repos for watching pirated TV shows and movies.

Let's say hypothetically, a brilliant developer figured out a way to build a Bright Script Kodi Roku channel.

It's highly doubtful, that Roku would allow this channel to remain on their platform for very long. Because their profit model is mainly from the sale of advertisements on streaming content, not hardware.

There really would be no incentive for Roku to allow an app that takes viewers away from legitimate ad-driven free content to one where they can easily access black market movies and shows on the Roku platform. With absolutely no benefit to Roku, except maybe an increase in hardware sales.

Apple TV Can Run Kodi But It Requires A Little Developer Account Vudu

While the Apple TV 4K hardware is more than powerful enough to run Kodi. There is a problem.

Because the app is not signed and available in the Apple Store. It takes a bit of side loading to get it to work on an Apple TV 4K.

The Best Media Streamer to Watch Kodi is a Nvidia SHIELD

Currently, one of best media streamers for watching Kodi is the Nvidia SHIELD. It requires no work arounds and runs Kodi perfectly.

While other Android boxes may cost less. None can come close to the performance and power of a Nvidia SHIELD Pro.

If you want the best media player for easily watching Kodi, the Nvidia SHIELD is great. But the Apple TV 4K or other Android Media Streamers, are good alternatives as well.
