Netflix Account HACKED!

We'll show you how to tell at a glance what is being watched across your Netflix account

While Netflix password sharing is a pretty popular way to make your streaming TV budget stretch further. Hackers are also busy trying to access your Netflix account with phishing emails and other sneaky ways to watch free TV on your dime.

But Netflix has a tool to help your fight password theft that is really not well known.

Here's How Check If Your Netflix Account Password Has Been Compromised

Step 1. From your Phone or a PC web browser, login to your Netflix Account.

Step 2. If you have multiple profiles set up on your account, choose the main profile. This is usually the first icon on the left. It's the profile you used to set up your Netflix account that has your billing information. If you don't have any other user profiles, skip to the next step.

Step 3. In the upper right hand corner, click the little dropdown triangle as shown in the image below.

Step 4. Click on Account from the drop down menu. Your account menu is shown. Now scroll down on this page until you find your user account icon next to where it says PROFILE & PARENTAL CONTROLS.

Under this heading is a Viewing Activity sub-title. To the right click on the View hyperlink and it will open a page that shows everything that was ever watched under this user profile. It's like a history page in a web browser.

Step 5. If you have more user profiles, follow the same process outlined in Step 4 for each user icon in your Netflix account.

If you start seeing shows on your main user profile or profiles you don't recognize on this page, now would be the time to change your Netflix password.

Another way to check for a hacked Netflix account is to see if all the devices using your Netflix account are all coming from states that you recognize.

Visit This Page: https://www.netflix.com/AccountAccess

This page also shows you IP addresses of devices that have connected and if it's from a Web Browser, or which Streaming Devices have accessed your account.

For example if you live in California, and your daughter is using a Netflix profile from college in New York with a Roku. But you start seeing devices accessing your account from Nevada from an Android device, chances are good your Netflix account has been compromised.

Here's How to Change Your Netflix Password

From the main account page in Step 2 and 3 above under MEMBERSHIP & BILLING. On the right side is a blue link that says Change password.

From the next page you must enter your current password. Then enter your new password twice and click the blue save button. But once you do so, any user profiles under your account won't be able to use Netflix until they have your new password.

change Netflix password

Rather than entering an easy to crack simple password, think about using a passphrase like your street name + your last 4 digits of your phone number reversed + 3 random characters #@!

An example a passphrase could look like this: Oaklane8729&#@

And this is a thousand times harder to crack than a simple password like: password

Remember, never click a link in an email to log into your Netflix account. Especially if they tell you things like your credit card number has been rejected. Or there is a problem with your Netflix account.

Always go to Netflix.com directly from a web browser and then log into your account.

Because hackers are quite good at creating copy cat sites that look the same as Netflix and when you log in at that page it records your password and account information.

And this will not only compromises your Netflix account, it can also give them personal information about yourself that they really should not have access to.

Follow theses tips to keep your Netflix account safe. And keep those that should not access your account out.
