What These Numbers Mean

While this only represents a relatively small sample of cord cutters, it shows some interesting trends. The big three Netflix, Prime Video, and Hulu all did really well.

But what's different this time around is Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu are all tied for first place.

A few years ago, it would have been Netflix way out in front. But times are changing, and since Netflix has lost a lot of their content to Hulu and raised their prices rather steeply this last year. Now we are seeing more subscribers migrate away from them to Prime Video and Hulu.

It also helped that earlier in the year Hulu offered a .99/month plan for a full year. This caused their subscriber count to go way up. They recently lowered their price on their on-demand streaming TV service without ads. And Hulu is currently also offering a special 6/month lower price promotion.

On Demand Is More Popular Than Live TV

Something else interesting is far more people subscribe to on-demand content than Live TV. All combined Sling TV, DirecTV Now, Philo, YouTube TV and PS Vue, only received one more vote than each of the top three on-demand streaming services received individually.

If this trend continues to hold true and as more people keep cutting the cord, many are choosing not to subscribe to streaming versions of the live TV channels they left. They would much rather watch a wider range of different on demand content from Netflix, Amazon Prime or Hulu instead.

The graph makes it a little easier to see how these streaming TV services stacked up against each other.
