Web Video Caster | App for Casting to Roku

Web Video Caster | Android App for Casting to Roku

Never Miss Out On Content That's Not Available on Roku with the Web Video Caster Android App

Web

Web Video Caster allows you to send videos from your favorite websites including movies, TV shows, live streams of news, sports, and IPTV and watch them on your TV. Also, cast local videos stored on your phone or tablet.

If you ever wished you could watch some of the same content from your Android phone on popular streaming devices like Roku, Smart TVs and others the Web Video Caster is here to help.

It provides an easy way for your television to stream content right from the Internet.

Supported Devices

The Web Video Caster app works with the following devices:

* Chromecast
* Roku
* DLNA receivers
* Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick
* Smart TVs: LG Netcast and WebOS, Samsung, Sony, and others.

Media File Types Supported

Important: Only media that will natively play on the device is supported. This app can't transcode media to make it compatible. For example Roku media players support the following video and audio formats.

Video file types: MP4, MOV, M4V, MKV, WebM Video codecs: H.264/AVC, HEVC/H.265, VP9 Audio file types: AAC, MP3, WMA, WAV (PCM), AIFF, FLAC, ALAC, AC3, E-AC3 Streaming protocols: HLS/CMAF, Smooth, DASH, m3u

If your were to try to stream an AVI or FLV file type on Roku it simply would not play.

Why Use Web Video Caster?

If there are times you wish you could watch the same content available on your Android Phone on your large screen TV, now you can with Web Video Caster.

This is an Android app that works as a browser. It can grab a compatible video URL inside any web page and then cast it to your TV using your Roku or any other supported media streamer (Chromecast, Fire TV, Nvidia Shield).

Any video that supports sub-titles this app will also play these as well.

Casting Vs Mirroring

Web Video Caster is an actual casting app and not a mirroring app. And there is a difference. Mirroring simply displays what is shown on the screen of a smart phone or tablet and then displays it your TV. This means you can't use your phone or tablet for anything else during the mirroring session and it must remain on.

Casting will actually stream the content from the Internet to your TV using a DLNA enabled device. Once the movie or show begins playing you can use your devices for other tasks or let the screen go dark into energy saver mode while the video continues to stream on your TV set.

How To Cast To Roku with Web Video Caster

1. Choose a video you want to play on your Roku
2. This needs to be a supported video format shown on the list above. Some web videos use FLV or Flash or FL4V and these won't play on Roku.
3. Connect to your Streaming device and play the video.
