3 Reasons You Don't Want To Be a Cord Cutter
Because your friends are all becoming cord cutters does that mean you should too?
We've probably all heard this a time or two, "Just because your friends jump off a bridge would you?"
These are some reasons maybe you don't want to be a cord cutter even though many of your friends decided cable or satellite TV is no longer for them.
1 - You Have More Money Than your Friends do!
If you think subscribing to alternative cord cutting streaming TV services to save some money each month is not necessary. And cutting the cord is for penny pinchers and cheapskates. Sorry, you could not be more wrong.
Watching streaming TV is more than saving money. It's about the freedom to choose what to watch and when to watch it from a long list of online streaming TV channels.
With a media streamer from Roku, Apple or Android you have complete freedom to take control of your TV viewing experience. And this will let you watch television on your terms and not someone else who thinks they know best what you need to watch and when.
2 - You Have all The Time in the World To Watch Commercials
Since you may have more time than your friends because you are lucky enough to be either independently wealthy or retired, commercials are not a big deal.
Well maybe not, but if you counted up all the time spent in a given year that you are forced to watch commercials on cable TV or satellite. Cutting the cord would free up that time to do more of the things you love doing.
Because time is something we can't buy or add more to our lives. We are all given so much sand in the hour glass, and when the sand has left the glass, our time is up.
Commercials on cable TV are not getting shorter, quite the opposite they seem to be getting longer. CreditDonkey has some interesting stats in their Television Statistics, with 23 Mind-Numbing Facts to Watch.
An estimated 38 commercials air every minute across national TV, and the average viewer spends about 15 minutes out of every hour just watching ads. That adds up to more than an hour of total TV time each day. More than 50% of television ads are 30 seconds long...
This was back in 2015, so you can bet these numbers have crept up even higher now as we quickly approach 2020.
3 - You Don't Care About All the Shows That Aren't on Cable TV
We get it, you're happy with cable TV because you may have had it your entire life. Change is hard sometimes. And cutting the cord may seem a little scary.
But what if we told you there are many really good shows you may be missing out on that are every bit as good if not better, then some of the shows you may be watching now with cable TV.
Great shows Like Stranger Things on Netflix, where you can binge watch episode after episode commercial free. The Handmaid's Tale On Hulu and Sneaky Pete on Prime Video. Plus many others that are all great shows and if you never try cut the cord and tried something else you would surly miss.
So if you don't want to be a cord cutter, that's perfectly fine. The cable company will be very happy to keep raising their price a couple times a year and taking your money.
The rest of us will be content to stream more TV than we can watch. On our terms for a fraction of the price or watch 100% free TV with fewer ads.
