Hulu Live TV Vs YouTube TV
Both Hulu Live TV and YouTube TV offer a DVR to Skip Through Recorded Commercials
Trying to decide which live streaming service to get can be complicated
There are many live streaming TV services to choose from, both Hulu Live TV and YouTube TV offer some great content. But the bottom line is which of these two offers the best bang for your hard earned money.
We have come a long way from the days of needing to sign a two-year contract. And fork over a bundle of cash every month to rent a bunch of satellite equipment just to watch live TV channels. Which mostly were hardly worth taking the time to watch.
Thankfully now that streaming TV has pretty much taken over the market, consumers have many more services to choose from.
Some things to think about before signing up for Hulu Live TV or YouTube TV
Picture Quality - If you value a crystal clear HD signal in 4K neither of these two will fill the bill. Because YouTube TV only streams in 720p and Hulu Live TV offers a higher quality 1080p video stream.
On Demand Library - This is another place Hulu Live TV shines because subscribers also get access to the Hulu on-demand catalog and can watch these shows as soon as they air.
DVR - DVR space is where YouTube slightly beats Hulu because they offer subscribers virtually unlimited DVR space and the ability to FF through commercials. Hulu makes you spend an extra $10 to increase the default 50GB of storage space to 200GB. And only then lets you fast forward through the advertisements.
Channels - YouTube recently added some new channels to their Live TV streaming service including Discovery Channel, ID, Motor Trend, TLC, and The Food Network Channel. But they also raised their monthly price from $35 for those that were grandfathered in and new subscribers to $50/month. YouTube TV Channels List is Here
Hulu Live TV also has some popular channels like AMC, IFC, FX, Viceland, and Discovery. Although missing is History and A&E.
Pricing
Hulu Live TV - $44.99/month with ads. No ads is $50/month (+$10 for Commercial Skip DVR)
YouTube TV - $50/month with Commercial Skip Unlimited DVR
Multiple Streams
One thing we really like about YouTube TV is the ability to share one account across three devices. So if you have a kid at college, they too can enjoy live TV in their dorm room while you watch at home. Hulu TV on the other hand only offers two stream per account. Unless you sign-up for their unlimited streams option which costs an additional $9.99/month unless you sign up for it and the Commercial Skip DVR. Then you get a discount package deal of $14.98 for both.
Conclusion
It all comes down which channels you like watching most. And which streaming service provides the best overall value for your needs. Thankfully, there are No Contracts when you sign-up for either one. So you can easily try each for a month or so. And also start and stop either one anytime.
