The worlds smallest tiny green PC is powerful, quiet, inexpensive and sips electricity
In the last few years smart phones have been getting larger, and personal computers have been shrinking. More people than ever are using small computers as media streaming and file serving devices, or even as a main desktop PC. Manufactures have responded and the tiny green PC market is really taking off.
One such device that recently has been generating quite a bit of buzz is the Intel Next Core i3. This is an Ultra Small Form Factor (USFF) Computing Platform and is contained in a case size approximately 4" x 4" This tiny green PC is small enough to fit behind your LED flat screen TV and can act as a Plex Server or full on HTPC. It is one of the few ultra small form factor computers that offers both an HDMI and also a Thunderbolt video output. It even comes with it's own VESA mounting bracket. Also, built into this diminutive little box is a WiFi antenna for wireless access to your router and the entire internet.
In case you are wondering, we really aren't colorblind. So why keep calling this obviously red colored Intel Next Core i3 a "Tiny Green PC"? Because it's so environmentally friendly and uses such little electricity compared to those giant rumbling home theater tower computers of yesteryear.
The possibilities for the Intel Next Core i3 tiny green PC are really unlimited. An HTPC is so much more versatile than most media streamers because you can surf to any online streaming site via a web browser.
Since it contains a full operating system (OS), you can download and watch any video content as you would on a computer and save it on your hard drive to watch later.
Add an antenna and network tuner like this one from HDHomeRun and it will turn this Intel Next Core i3 into a free HD DVR. An HTPC is not limited by file formats or channels.
With an HTPC you can install XBMC or Plex and still have an amazing user interface to access and play any content directly from the internet or hard drive directly onto your television.
