Today is the day the HBO faithful will automatically see their HBO Max streaming service merged with Discovery programming. And from this day forth HBO Max shall now simply be referred to by its newest name: MAX.


The Price Will Stay The Same But You'll Lose Some Features


A big concern many cord-cutters had when the news first broke that HBO planned on merging their popular HBO Max premium streaming service with Discovery, was how much it would cost more a month?

The good news is if you are paying either $10/month for the service with ads, or $16/month without ads, your price won't change. Now, for some bad news, before the merger of these two streaming services, HBO Max was available in 4K UHD and Dolby Atmos, and this was included in the price.

To continue watching in 4K and also receive Dolby Atmos audio, now users will need to bump up to a new Max Ultimat ad-free plan which is $19.99/month or $199.99/year.


How This Will Change What You Watch on HBO


With the name change and the new Max app rollout, content on the platform will be changed. Subscribers will now have additional access to a wide range of Discovery content.


Here's How to Get The New Max App


Before you can start streaming the merged content from both services on Max, you'll need the new app.

Most devices will update automatically, if your app didn't, you need to go to the app store for your device and search for MAX.
