Showtime and Paramount+ Merge to Rule the Screen!

Streaming Giant Showdown: Showtime and Paramount+ Merge to Rule the Screen!

By combining Showtime and Paramount into a single streaming entity it will cut costs and offer a more streamlined streaming TV service

Showtime and Paramount+ Merge

Later in 2023 Showtime will become one with Paramount+ to offer an enhanced streaming service. No longer will you be able to simply subscribe to Showtime as a standalone service once it is bundled with Paramount+ either ad-free or with ads.

You can still subscribe to Paramount+ Essential with ads, or Paramount+ alone without ads or Showtime. But to watch Showtime you'll need to either subscribe to Paramount Essential, or Parmount+ along with Showtime.
The good news is it will be less expensive than subscribing to both individually now.

Streaming TV is Going Through a Transition Phase as Bundled Services and Mergers May Become More Common

Like the Tech industry, Streaming TV is also facing an earnings crisis. Layoffs are happening across the industry as streaming companies are reeling from reduced demand for their content. As with most consumers, cord-cutters faced with increasing prices, and dwindling savings accounts are needing to make tough decisions on cutting unnecessary expenses.

This move will help streamline operations across Paramount, and offer a price break to cord-cutters who want to watch both CBS content on Paramount, and also would like to access premium movies and television series offered by Showtime.

Pricing for the New Paramount and Showtime Bundled Package

Currently, if you want to subscribe to both Paramount+ and also Showtime without ads it costs $21/month. And Parmaount+ Premium alone without Showtime that's mostly ad-free is $9.99/month. (Live content will still contain some ads, but there are no additional ads added unless you opt to get the Essential plan.)

The new bundled price with both Showtime and Paramount+ without additional ads is going to save 28% and will cost $14.99/month. This savings equates to approximately $6 a month.

You can save even more money by paying for an annual subscription, but this will lock you in from stopping service when you briefly want to subscribe to other premium content on other streaming TV services such as Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu, Apple TV+, or HBO Max.

Since there are so many great streaming services available now to choose from, locking yourself into only one for an entire year may not always be the best. Streaming companies know this and really try hard to eliminate churn by offering some pretty sweet deals to pay upfront.
Such as the recent deal offered by HBO Max over the holidays which was 50% off if you pay for an entire year.

Here are prices for the different streaming plans available when subscribed monthly with Paramount+.

Paramount+ Essential ($4.99/month Limited Ads) Paramount+ Premium + Extras ($9.99/month) Essential + SHOWTIME ($11.99/month Limited ads) Premium + SHOWTIME + Extras ($14.99/month)
