Another Nvidia SHIELD update is out and introduces several new features and fixes 16 bugs
While there are no new hardware releases that have been announced by Nvidia for the SHIELD. They keep supporting Android boxes released several years ago with new updates. The latest 9.1.1 SHIELD OS update fixed a total of 16 prior software bugs.
Several New SHIELD Enhancements Added
Along with 16 software bug fixes, this latest software update for the Nvidia SHIELD includes a couple new enhancements to make the SHIELD even nicer to use.
The power control option will wake an unresponsive SHIELD when your TV input is changed.
The company also added an option for developers for HDMIC-CEC volume control for Soundbars.

This update fixes some things prior updates broke, which was upsetting to many SHIELD owners, who were used to flawless performance. This reflected badly not only on Nvidia but also on Google which owns and develops software for Android media players.
For those that have been waiting for a hardware refresh, you'll need to wait a little while longer. But this latest update should fix some lingering and annoying issues with the software and make the SHIELD an even better media streamer than it already is.
