Roku AirPlay Issues

In the Roku Forum, one of the Roku mods posted about AirPlay issues that will cause your Roku player to not show up on your iOS device.

This is what was posted:

"Hi Community users,

If you are experiencing Airplay related issues in which the Roku device is not showing up on your iOS device, please provide us with the following information:

-Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and software OS/version (these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
-tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times)
-steps to reproduce the issue you are seeing
-when did you start seeing this issue occur
-any relevant screenshots that will help us understand what you are experiencing

Once we have this information, we will be able to pass the information along to the appropriate Roku team to investigate further.

Thanks,
Danny

Try This to Get AirPlay Working Again

One thing that seems to get things working whenever issues arise between an Apple TV and iPhone and AirPlay not working is to reboot both devices. Sometimes an AirPlay device gets stuck in memory on the iPhone. Which won't let AirPlay work at all. Usually, a simple reboot of both AirPlay devices clears this up and it will soon be working again.

Roku is nothing more than a basic computer running on the BrightScript scripting language. Sometimes poor software code can cause computers to lock up and not work.

So try powering down both your Roku or Roku TV and iPhone. Power each device down completely then restart them. Once fully started try using AirPlay again. Sometimes this is all it takes to clear up the problem.

How to Cast Web Video Content to Roku

Casting or using AirPlay to mirror content you browse for on your phone's Web browser is a handy replacement for private sideloaded channels which are no longer available on Roku.

Here are step-by-step instructions on how to view content from a Web browser on Roku.
