Spectrum Cable TV Subs Get Hit With Another Rate Hike in March
If you are a Spectrum Cable TV subscriber, don't get too comfortable with your current bill
Charter Spectrum announced another rate increase for their cable TV subscribers beginning on March 18. They are specifically raising the price on broadcast TV fees and also on equipment rental fees. With the latest price hike, equipment rental fees will increase by a $1 more each month, and their broadcast TV fees will also increase another $3 per month.
Current Spectrum Customers Notified by This Email
At least Spectrum has the decency to let their customers know they need to increase prices instead of just applying these increases without saying a word like some US Cellular companies like to do.
In an email sent to their customers, Spectrum had this to say:
Notification of rate changes
As of 3/18/2022, there will be changes to spectrum services, equipment, fees and surcharges where applicable:
Broadcast TV Surcharge will increase to $21.00. Equipment fees for HD Boxes will increase from $8.99 to $9.99 (per receiver)
Tired of Spectrum Rate Increases? This can save you a lot of money!
It seems there is no end to constant cable TV increases. Maybe it's due to all those worthless channel providers typically bundled together, raising their prices.
This time they are blaming the local broadcaster or "network-affiliated" TV stations for charging higher prices. These are the same channels that you can watch Free in 1080 HD with a decent size TV antenna: Be sure to read our Digital TV Antenna Guide
As a direct result of local broadcast or “network-affiliated” TV stations in recent years dramatically increasing the rates to Charter Communications to distribute their signals to our customers, we’re forced to pass those charges on as a “Broadcast TV Surcharge.” These local TV signals were historically made available to us at no cost or low cost. However, in recent years the prices demanded by local broadcast TV stations have necessitated that we pass these costs on to customers.
