NVIDIA Just Released an Android TV OS 9.01 Update for The Prior Bug Filled Software Update
While the last udpate left many SHIELD owners reeling, Nvidia Made Good with a New Update
Bugs happen sometimes when updates are released. But you need to give Nvidia credit, they have provided more updates to their Android TV media streamers, than any company in the history of Android.
When a company continue to provide bug fixes and software updates for hardware that came out 5 years ago, and is no longer being made. This says a lot about Nvidia and their commitment and desire to support their customers. This is simply unheard of with Android.
Here is What the Latest Android OS 9.01 Fixes
Top Issues Fixed With This Update -
Resolved a PLEX Media Server issue. (This really caused big problems for many Plex users.)
Fixed storage permission issues on media players, file browsers, and emulator apps
Stutter eliminated, when playing interlaced content
HDMI/Display Issues Fixed -
Addressed the brief video corruption issue that occurred while watching YouTube Live TV
Repaired the HDMI-CEC volume control where it adjusted by 2 increments
Eliminated the thumbnail overlay, which showed up when taking a screenshot
Resolved an issue where screen would be rotated 90 degrees
Restored "beta" description to "Match frame rate" settings
Android OS 9.01 Audio Issues Fixed -
[SHIELD 2019] Fixes bug where audio would be lost after toggling "Dolby audio processing"
Fixes Bluetooth audio issue when "Audio formats" is set to manual
Storage Issues Resolved -
[SHIELD 2019 8GB model] Resolves issue where SD card would not be detected after reboot
Resolves issue where files on adopted storage was not visible when connecting over local network
Issue where Android folders are automatically created when connecting storage has been fixed
Fixed a bug where files cannot copy onto removable storage when connecting over local network from a Mac
Fixed the bug where copying files to a SHIELD over the local network when app is running on SHIELD
Bug fixed where Kodi media files were not visible when connecting over local network
Network Bugs Resolved -
Fixes bug where “Wi-Fi roaming enabled” switch was not working properly
Resolves issue where the user is prompted for Wi-Fi network again after successfully connecting to networks
Accessories Issues Fixed -
Fixed KODI bug where SHIELD TV app, Control4, and other remotes would not work properly
Fixes KODI issue where long press select or menu would not be detected properly
XBOX controller issues where pressing the XBOX button would not bring up Stadia menu is fixed
Fixes bug where IR volume control would be disabled when USB DAC was connected
Resolves navigation issues when selecting folders to grant files and media permissions
Casting Bugs Repaired -
Resolved instances where SHIELD would not be visible as a cast device
Misc Android OS 9.01 Issues Fixed -
Fixed the bug where KODI system files were inaccessible
Fixed the bug where playback status for videos would show up on the home screen
