Is Walmart's Line of ONN TV With Roku Worth the Money?
ONN is Walmarts Own Budget Brand Smart Roku TV
Many consumers shop at Walmart when buying a new Television. And they now have their own house brand of ONN TVs. Today shoppers have many choices and brands to choose from when shopping for new TV sets. With popular brands available from Sony, Samsung, LG, TCL, and many more. You may be wondering of buying an ONN TV at Walmart is a wise move.
ONN TV: Easy on Your Wallet
One reason to look at onn TV line is because it is an affordable option. They are Walmarts house brand, so you know they will not be a match for a more expensive Sony or LG television. Yet they still come with a fairly decent one or two-year warranty and also have some of the same features found in models costing much more.
Durabrand manufactures these televisions in China for Walmart. And like many other brands of low-cost consumer electronics and even more expensive technology. China these days builds some pretty nice quality gadgets. They make iPhones, media streamers, Roku TVs and also many other higher end electronics in China as well.
The onn brand is Walmart's solution to give their customers other alternatives to some of the more expensive bigger name television brands.
Here's What ONN TVs Offer
While being easy on your budget is one feature, everyone seems to like about this line of TVs. Another big factor to consider is picture quality. With models available from 24" all the way to 75" with resolutions up to 4K. So they build a TV model that will fit every room and application.
With the Roku hardware already built-in, you can turn it on and choose from thousands of Roku channels. And still have an easy-to-use interface that will be second nature to many who have used a Roku media streamer in the past.

Be sure to read all the reviews on the particular model you are interested on Walmart's site. Reviewers ranked some models much higher than others. Lower-cost onn TVs may not offer the same high-quality picture of their more expensive models, which earned some pretty positive reviews. So, like anything else, you do get what you pay for to a certain extent.
Smart TV or Dumb TV
Advantages:
Smart TVs with built in media streamers have some real advantages. First, you don't need to buy anything else like a separate media player and HDMI cable. Along with the associated dust these devices collect. They also come with a unified remote. So instead of juggling between remotes, you can simply use one remote to watch everything you want. Yes, a universal remote is another option. But then you also have another added expense and something else you need to to learn how to use.
Disadvantages:
They may not offer as nice a picture as a higher end television. But some models, after you read the reviews, come a very close second. While saving you a lot. Seriously though, where else can you find a 75" 4K UHD 2160P Frameless LED Smart TV for $600?
But the biggest disadvantage may come if for any reason Roku goes out of business, and the TV will no longer function. This is what many Roku TV customers experience when there was an issue with Roku's servers, and their expensive TVs turned into a doorstop for a short while. You can read more about what happened here.
But for many buyers, an inexpensive smart TV with access to everything Roku offers makes sense. And with the exceptional picture quality onn TV owners are raving about, you can hardly go wrong with one for a guest bedroom, an office or even a primary TV.
