Tablo is getting ready to roll out a price increase in April 2021
Like taxes and birthdays, rising prices are something we can always count on. Tablo the DVR maker that lets you record live TV from an antenna is getting ready to increase the price of their Lifetime Guide service on April, 6th.
The Tablo Guide is currently $149.99 USD or $179.99 CAD and this will increase by $30 to $179.99 USD or $239.99 CAD. Since this is a one-time fee it can still save you a ton of money as compared to their monthly guide service if you plan on sticking with Tablo for many years.
Tablo Monthly and Annual Guide Service Won't See a Price Increase
Good news if you are a monthly or annual Tablo guide service subscriber, you won't see an increase in price at this time. The monthly subscription cost for their guide is $4.99 USD/$5.99 CAD.
You typically can't apply the unused portion towards a Lifetime guide purchase.
But if you recently subscribed to an annual plan. Even though they typically don't offer refunds for unused portions, if you contact Tablo Support Directly. They are currently offering exceptions.
Yes, like a VHS DVR you can use Tablo manually to set recordings, but their guide data is limited to only 1/day. Their paid guide has 14 days of data, so you can schedule shows to record a lot further in advance. You also receive several other ways to view programming by Movies, Sports, Series, and they also include additional features like Cover Art and filters like genre, new, and premieres.
Most importantly the feature that will no doubt used the most and is only included in the Tablo paid guide service is the ability to record entire television series at a time. This set-and-forget method to record your shows is by far the nicest. Otherwise, you can still set up a manual schedule to repeat each week. It just takes longer to set it up than clicking a button to record every episode of your favorite shows.
Unlike TiVo which ties their guide to their device. With Tablo, you can upgrade to new Tablo DVRs multiple times and the Lifetime Guide is yours to keep on using for the rest of your life.
