Android TV App Launcher Builder for side-loaded apps adds a nice icon right to the home screen on a Nvidia SHIELD and Mi Box.

If you hate opening your side-loaded apps from a launcher window you will love this. And this adds some nice app icons right on the Home Screen for side-loaded APKs.

Here's How To Use The Android TV Leanback App Launcher Builder

STEP 1. Build your Android TV Leanback App Launcher Icon for any APK Here.

STEP 2. Fill in the APK builder, fill in all the form fields carefully. And if any steps are missed, the app won't generate and an error message will be displayed.

These Fields All Need to Be Filled In:

App Name (max 15 characters): Add the Name of Your App. Must be at least 3 characters long and contain both letters and numbers.

App Package: com.android.myapp (Must be The Exact Name Of Android APK You Want to Launch)

EXAMPLES: You can find App Names in the Google Play Store, the package name is encoded in the URL:
In this example the package name for the Chrome app is shown in bold:

When downloading apps from ApkMirror, on the left side under tools on the App download page is the Package: NAME

App Category: Choose drop-down box and choose from either Apps or Games

App Logo: (PNG only) This is used when browsing the apps in your apps list. Click here to build a Custom Logo

App Banner (PNG/JPEG, optional): This is the image shown on the Home Screen of your SHIELD or Mi Box. Make this image size 320 Pixels Wide by 180 Pixels High.

STEP 3. Finally click the Generate button to build your app with a custom Home Screen Icon.

If everything was successful shortly after clicking the Generate button, you will have a generated app. Where it says Result Success click the green button top download your APK and install it to your Nvidia SHIELD or Mi Box and also the app that it corresponds with.

Then whenever you click on the icon for that particular app, it will launch the app in the background.

Pretty sweet and it sure beats the old way of launching side-loaded APKs on Android TV devices.
