Free Internet Privacy and Faster DNS with CLOUDFLARE 1.1.1.1

Are you craving more Internet privacy and a faster connection with less buffering when you stream TV content on your favorite media streamer?

Now you can have your cake and eat it too with 1.1.1.1 a new FREE Internet DNS service from CLOUDFLARE

CLOUDFLARE is a company that runs one of the world’s largest, fastest networks. It helps make the Internet work by offering CDN, DNS, DDoS protection and security. They have been helping websites both large and small for many years now.

1.1.1.1 Faster Private DNS

With all the news lately on how we are losing our privacy to websites that track our behavior online, CLOUDFLARE decided to help by offering a Free DNS service. Once it's setup on either your computer or Router, not only will it make surfing the Web faster, the 1.1.1.1 DNS will also help protect your privacy online. Did we mention it was 100% FREE?

Here Is How CLOUDFLARE 1.1.1.1 Works

To make a complicated subject very simply DNS is an acronym for(Domain Name System) This is an Internet service who's primary mission is to convert alphabetic names of websites like mkvXstream.com into numeric IP addresses. For example, when a Web address (URL) is typed into a browser address bar (Not to be confused with typing it into a Google search box), A DNS server's job is to find, translate and return the IP address of the Web server associated with that name.

When you sign up for your Internet Provider they typically give you their own DNS Servers to enter into your Router. This way all your searches, and Internet activity goes through their DNS Servers.

Why Use a Different DNS?

Often times, the DNS servers given to you by your Internet Provider is slow. So the time it takes for the website to be resolved from an alphabetic names to an IP address can make your Internet run a little slower than if you used a super fast DNS like 1.1.1.1 from CLOUDFLARE.

PRIVACY CONCERNS - This is one reason that makes using the 1.1.1.1 DNS even more useful. Right now every website you visit, every movie you stream or watch online your Internet Provider has a nice little entry next to your IP address for everything you do online.

You may be thinking who cares, I don't have anything to hide and even so, all that data being accumulated next to your digital IP address is there, all tied up in a nice little bundle for your Internet Provider to sell to the highest bidder. Privacy laws have changed recently so now it is perfectly legal for them to do so.

Before You Make Any Changes to Your DNS Server Address Read This First!

Be sure to write down your old DNS Name Servers and back them up in a safe place. A good place would be to make a new contact in your phone under DNS Server and record both IP addresses.

Should a CLOUDFLARE DNS server ever stop working, you can easily put your original DNS Servers back in and have access to the Internet. This will save you the needless aggravation from calling your Internet support department asking them to help you get connected back to the Internet once again.

How Do I Change My DNS Servers?

The easiest ways to change your DNS Server is to go to your Router and simply add the DNS Servers for CLOUDFLARE. There are spots for two DNS Servers and you should change them both to the following.

1.1.1.1
1.0.0.1

You can also change your DNS servers on each device that lets you change them like a PC or laptop. The bad part is not all devices will accept a new DNS for example your ROKU. It only uses the DNS servers entered into your Router.

For full instructions on how to change the DNS servers to 1.1.1.1 on your iPhone, Android, Mac OS, Windows, Linux or Routers visit this page.

Some Internet providers are not letting users change the DNS settings on their Router. You can still get around this and have compete privacy by setting up a secondary Router behind your primary Router and changing the DNS servers on it to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1.
