A podcast is a digital audio, or video file which is made publicly available on the Internet for downloading or streaming. They can either be an individual segment or a series with daily, weekly or monthly new installments. Podcasts can be subscribed to and received automatically by subscribers.

Podcasts can be found on almost every topic. From popular talk show hosts like Oprah, talk radio news shows, to full nightly news shows from CBS, ABC and FOX and MSNBC. Many Roku channels get their content from podcasts directly which are freely shared. With a Roku podcast player, you can setup your own custom channel based on the podcasts you like to listen to or watch.

Listen Notes is a really great resource to help you find audio podcasts or even individual episodes from a particular podcast.


Finding Video Podcasts


Finding Video podcasts can be a little more tricky but for this, there is another app you can use on your Roku to search through the entire iTunes podcast library without even needing to have iTunes installed.

Go ahead and add the private iTunes Podcast Channel. Roku Code: IPTC or Click Here to add this channel to your Roku.

iTunes has a large library of both audio and video podcasts listed. An easy way to find some of the best is browse the New and Noteworthy category. The channel when first launched will ask you to choose if you want either audio, video or both types of podcasts. You can set it to make your choice the default so from then on, it will only show you the type of podcasts you may be interested in.

The iTunes Podcast Roku app also has a nice search function which lets you search through the entire iTunes podcast database.
