Netflix Americas Favorite Streaming TV Service Once Again Raised It's Prices.
Streamers on a budget will now need to dig deeper into their piggy bank if they want to continue watching Netflix in HD and 4K.
Their 4K Ultra HD Plan that lets you watch on 4 screens at once was increased $2 more per month and is now $13.99 a month. That's a rather significant 25% price increase which will cost subscribers an additional $24 a year.
Their HD plan which lets you watch on two screens at once went from $9.99 to $10.99 a month an 8% price increase or another $12 more a year.
Their basic plan which cost $7.99 per month and will let you watch on one screen at a time remains unchanged.
The Good News
It's not all bad news for Netflix subscribers because along with the announced price increases, Netflix also said that this year alone they spent over $6 billion dollars on original programming and acquiring more content for their subscribers.
For 2018 per Ted Sarandos who heads up the Netflix content division, this budget will be increased to $7 billion dollars.
Here are what some of Netflix's closest competitors are charging for their streaming TV services.

HULU
Hulu is also a streaming service that is popular with many and a good alternative to Netflix. While they do not have as much original content as Netflix or as much market share many content providers have been quietly moving their content from Netflix to Hulu.
Hulu has many newer shows which are only available for a few weeks before they expire. Unlike Netflix which lets you binge watch many entire shows season after season Hulu is more a watch a show every week when it is released like conventional cable TV.
If you love classic TV shows, Hulu has a large catalog of full seasons of content. So if you don't typically need to watch the latest shows you will still find tons of great shows to binge watch along with a large library of movies.
Hulu only lets you stream to one device at a time and they also have three plans available.
- The cost for the basic Hulu plan with commercials is $7.99 per month the same as Netflix which has zero commercials.
- The Hulu commercial free plan which exempts a few shows and still show commercials due to licensing agreements is $11.99 per month.
- Hulu now has a Live streaming plan which includes 50 live streaming channels along with the on-demand content plan costs $39.99 a month no commercials Hulu add $4/month more. If you want their online Cloud DVR, it is an additional $15 a month and comes with 200 hours of storage and lets you skip commercials in your recordings.

Another streaming service you may want to try is Amazon Prime Video. Not only will you get access to a large library of movies, TV shows and music, you also get access to free 2-day shipping as a Prime customer.
Even though you are a Prime subscriber, unlike Netflix and HULU where everything you watch on their service is free after you subscribe. Amazon still charges money for many newer movies which are mixed in with their free content. While this can be a bit confusing there is a lot of great content including some award winning original content and Amazon Prime Exclusive TV series.

Amazon Prime costs $99/per year or pay $10.99 a month and includes 4K Movies and TV shows. The annual one time payment is a much better deal and it will save you $32.88 over the monthly price.
Will Netflix's Additional Cost Increase Make You Want To Switch?
The latest Netflix price increase comes almost a year later from their last price increase which has us wondering if annual price increases from Netflix may become the new norm.
While the price increase may seem steep to some, and will have them questioning if they want to remain Netflix subscribers.
Undoubtedly Netflix still provides a lot of nice content to watch for your money when compared to Cable TV. There are also some other great options for cord-cutters looking for a great deal on streaming TV.
